Qualified in Florida, New York, District of Colombia, and Spain, Marta Colomar is the Administrative Managing Partner of the global law firm Diaz Reus International Law Firm and Alliance (also known as Diaz Reus or DRT). As administrative managing partner of the firm, Colomar is responsible for overseeing compliance with firm’s policies and procedures, overseeing the firm’s foreign offices, and monitoring the firm’s financial performance both on the revenue and the expense side. Colomar is a partner in the international commercial litigation and arbitration department of DRT, where she handles cases involving complex issues of international law. Her extensive knowledge of the common law and civil law systems has helped her to advise international clients on litigation matters in both US and foreign courts. During her career she has represented and continues to represent foreign sovereign governments, sovereign entities, multinational corporations, and individuals.

How do you unwind after a long day of work? Hang out with my friends and family.
What challenges have you faced in your career, and how did you overcome them? Being the first woman in my firm to have a position of authority and being a foreigner.
What has been the most monumental moment of your career thus far? When I argued in front of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and won.
Who are your role models? My father. My boss.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten? Let your work speak for itself.
What advice would you give a young woman at the start of her career? Do not be afraid and don’t feel compelled to smile. And please do not say “sorry” when you start typing and/or speaking.
How does being a woman has impacted your career? It has impacted it tremendously and it still does, because I want to make sure that all my women colleagues have the same opportunities that I had and that their gender is not an impediment to that.
