“The impact of COVID-19 on The Sub-Saharan African economy has caused the first recession on the continent in 25 years. Also, Africa is unlikely to rebound to pre-covid levels at least until 2025. Rwandan President Paul Kagame recently said it will take a generation or more for many African countries to recover from the pandemic. However, the International Monetary Fund predicts a slow rebound in 2021 for the continent, at around 3 percent. Also, The African Continental Free Trade that came into effect in January this year is cause for much optimism. To unpack Africa’s economic outlook for 2021, we are joined by Dr Martyn Davies, Managing Director of Emerging Markets at Deloitte and Touch, also with us is Yamkela Makupula, Africa CEO of Diaz Reuz Africa.”
