Diaz Reus Partner Gary Davidson Appointed to The Florida Bar’s Inaugural Board Certification Committee in International Litigation and Arbitration

The Florida Bar today announced the appointment of Diaz Reus partner Gary Davidson to the inaugural Board Certification Committee for International Litigation and Arbitration. This new certification program was approved late last year by the Florida Supreme Court.

The approval from the Florida Supreme Court capped a near decade-long effort by the International Law Section of the Florida Bar to create the first such certification program in the United States. Davidson spearheaded that effort from its inception. “This is such an exciting opportunity for all of us who work daily in the areas of international litigation and arbitration and a recognition of how far Florida has come in the last 20 years. We are today viewed by our peers across the world as leaders in international work and this new board certification—the first of its kind in our country—demonstrates Florida’s continuing commitment to ensuring the delivery of international litigation and arbitration work at the highest level.”

Obtaining the approval of the new program was not a simple process: “This took years of work and there were so many of my colleagues here in Florida who I thank personally for contributing their time and enthusiasm to the cause”, explained Davidson. “Special thanks goes to the new chairman of the inaugural board, Ed Mullins, and Ryan Reetz, who will also be joining the inaugural board, for their tireless efforts to see this project through with me to a successful conclusion”.
