PARAMARIBO – Nov. 30, 2025. The American law firm Diaz Reus from Miami, Florida, has opened an office in Paramaribo. The firm works locally with the law firm Meijer & DavidKock and is led by lawyers Kaushilya Budhulall and David Kock. The opening took place on Friday.
According to the firm, the opening of the office is in line with the growing global interest in Suriname, particularly due to the development of the oil and gas sector, which is generating significant economic activity, including for American companies. Diaz Reus therefore decided to establish an office in Suriname. The legal system in Suriname is very similar to that of Aruba, and the official language is Dutch, which makes the country attractive for international legal practice.
Diaz Reus’ new office in Paramaribo joins the firm’s other offices in the Caribbean region – including Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire – as well as in The Hague and Bogotá, Colombia.
Representatives from various commercial sectors attended the festive opening ceremony. The response to the arrival of an international American law firm was positive, and expectations for future collaboration are high.
