Jorge focuses his practice on cross-border litigation, investigations and arbitration, including white collar representations, internal investigations, complex commercial disputes, international law matters and international arbitrations. His representations have included matters involving more than a dozen jurisdictions, including virtually all countries in Latin America.

He is a native Spanish speaker, and his experience as a founder of two Latin American startups in highly regulated sectors allows him to navigate varying legal and regulatory regimes and to serve foreign and domestic clients in cross-border matters involving multiple jurisdictions. He has represented Fortune 500 companies, large multinational companies and investment funds, foreign governments, high-net-worth individuals and families, government officials, and senior executives

He received a Juris Doctor degree magna cum laude from the University of Miami School of law in 2004, and a Master of Science in Finance from Johns Hopkins University in 2022. He is admitted to the Florida Bar.

Mr. Schmidt is a U.S. Army special operations veteran and held a TS/SCI security clearance.
