Last Thursday, February 22, 2018, Diaz, Reus & Targ, LLP (“DRT”) hosted its Annual Reception to celebrate the LL.M. Candidates from the University of Miami School of Law (“UM Law”). This year, the Reception attracted 28 LL.M. Candidates from various countries, including United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Brazil, Nigeria, Colombia, Venezuela, South Korea, Romania, Spain, France, Honduras, Cuba, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Italy, and Saudi Arabia, currently enrolled in UM Law’s LL.M. program in U.S. and Transnational Law for Foreign Lawyers, International Arbitration, and Maritime Law.

During the first part of the event, attendants were divided in three focus groups to discuss three of DRT’s practice areas: Regulatory Compliance, Litigation and Arbitration, and Personal and Business Services. In the focus groups, attendants and DRT Partners at the Miami Headquarters engaged in an open dialogue regarding their experiences, perspectives, and specific interests involving each area of practice.  Following this part of the event, attendants were invited to a reception to meet and greet DRT’s Partners and other attorneys of DRT’s Miami office.

Michael Diaz, Jr., Global Managing Partner, comments that “for our team it was a pleasure to meet this year’s LL.M. Candidates.  We had the chance to meet some talented foreign-trained law students and lawyers, many of which are multilingual and already experienced attorneys back in their countries. The LL.M. class at UM Law is international and diverse, two of the core values of our Firm. We are definitively looking forward to the next edition of this event.”
